The River Koln

Having just had a couple of chances to put into practice what I had learnt in my lesson. The day was good with lots of cloud cover and a light breeze. I decided to start at the far end of the beat rather than start opposite the Bull .

Where has all the water gone??

Time for a coffee with no luck so far. Really wishing I had started by the bridge where I have caught fish every time. Still must keep my confidence up or I will have no chance.

Now a few fish start coming to the net. A few of the resident wild brownies and even a grayling. This one looked as if it had been chomped at a few times but it was a welcome bend in the rod.

Finally a better trout came to the net. A lovely fish...the type that has got me well and truly hooked on the river fishing.

A tough day but about 8 fish to hand in the end. Still only using about 5 of the hundreds of flies I have in my box but never mind, they look good!!!
